In The Spotlights FYDP students from SCEE (IESE) present their work to Minister of Planning and Development, Pakistan’
On May 16, 2024, a group of final-year Environmental Engineering students from NUST met with Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister of Planning and Development, to present their innovative project on treating fecal sludge using Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems (DEWATS). The team supervised by Ms Nida Maqbool, consisting of Mahnoor Quddusi, Meer Taqi Ali, Muhammad Ahsan, and Ali Noor, has been focused on developing sustainable waste management solutions to address critical sanitation challenges.
During the meeting, the students detailed the technical aspects and potential benefits of their project, highlighting its cost-effectiveness and efficiency in improving sanitation and environmental conditions in underserved communities. Minister Iqbal praised their dedication and innovation, recognizing the project’s significance in advancing Pakistan’s development goals and reaffirming the government’s support for young innovators and environmental sustainability initiatives.
