Dr. Zeshan Sheikh, Professor SCEE (IESE) organized an Awareness Event on “Circular Economy Approaches to Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Murree” from the platform of National University of Sciences and Technology (#NUST) at RAMADA Hotel, Murree on 30 June 2026 while also observing “World Environment Day 2026”. It was held with the financial support of #ICIMOD bringing together government officials, academia, students, waste management companies and community members.

The event was graced by Mr. Kamran Sagheer, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Murree, as the Chief Guest. Representatives from Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), GHS, TDCP, Kohsar University, the Murree Hotel Association, Anjuman-e-Tajran Murree, the Murree Development Forum (MDF), faculty members, students, and other distinguished guests attended the event. Among them, distinguished guests included Mr. Moazam Nazir Deputy Regional Manager (North) TDCP, Mr. Talha Mir Tehsil Manager RWMC, Mr. Murad Khan Rana CEO GHS, Dr Sumaira Maqsood HoD Environmental Sciences Kohsar University Murree, Dr Musharib Khan Assistant Professor SCEE (IESE), NUST, Mr. Sohail Baig Chairman Anjuman Tajiran Murree and Mr. Nouman Abbasi from MDF.

Throughout the event, speakers highlighted the importance of solid waste management, composting and recycling of solid waste, and sustainable environmental practices, emphasizing practical solutions for effective waste management in Murree. An awareness walk was also conducted at the culmination of the event.
