Hiring of Research Associate for ICIMOD-funded project focused on municipal solid waste in Murree

Multiple positions are available in Dr. Zeshan’s research group (https://iese.nust.edu.pk/faculty/zeshan/) at the Institute of Environmental Sciences & Engineering (IESE), School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (SCEE), NUST, Islamabad. These positions are part of the ICIMOD-funded project focused on sustainable management and circular economy of municipal solid waste in Murree.

This role involves engaging various stakeholders, including informal sectors, to gather both quantitative and qualitative waste-related data. Responsibilities include conducting interviews and surveys, site assessments, observation-based data recording, data analysis and preparing reports and presentations. The Environmentalist will have to visit different points to collect data related to the generation, handling, management, transfer, sale, and disposal of municipal solid waste in Murree and Rawalpindi. The role also involves coordinating project activities and organizing training programs on sustainable waste management practices.
Requirements: BS in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering with relevant field experience.
Note: Environmentalist will be full-time position.

Responsibilities include conducting social assessments in relation to relevant stakeholders through knowledge, attitude and practices surveys, coordination with relevant stakeholders and workers, literature and policy review, data compilation and report preparation. The role also involves organizing awareness campaigns/sessions and training programs on sustainable waste management practices. The Social Mobilizer will conduct field visits across Murree and Rawalpindi to collect data on various project-related things.
Requirements: BS in Environmental Sciences or Social Sciences with relevant experience.
Note: Social Mobilizer will be full-time position and applicants from Murree or nearby areas will be preferred.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for planning and executing the research component of the project. They will be developing questionnaires, conducting field visits in Murree for data collection, and coordinating with Environmentalist and Social Mobilizer for various activities. The role also involves reviewing relevant literature and policies, compiling and analyzing data and assisting in the preparation of technical reports and documentation.
Requirements: BS in Environmental Sciences and currently enrolled in relevant MS program.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PPTX, Google Sheets, or SPSS is required for accurate data entry and reporting.
